Bloomingdale's
Great Gifts at Bloomingdales.com

To think it all started with a 19th century fad - the hoop skirt. That was the first item that Joseph and Lyman Bloomingdale carried in their Ladies' Notions Shop in New York's Lower East Side. In the late 1800's, most fashion retailers specialized in just one type of garment. Not the brothers Bloomingdale - their East Side Bazaar, opened in 1872, sold a wide variety of European fashions. It was the beginning of what would become a "Department Store".

Today Bloomingdale's is committed to lead the way with exclusive merchandise, customized services, and alternative shopping venues. Carrying on the Bloomingdale's brothers' dream, we're always finding ways to set our stores apart. That's both the legacy and the promise of Bloomingdale's.

Creative advertising for your business will get the image of your business out into the public view, which can bring in more customers to your business. Promotional drives of having coffee mugs designed for your business is a popular way to get your business advertised. Having printed mugs professionally designed and given as gifts to your clients and employees will promote your business with every sip of coffee. It is an effective way to have your business advertised constantly.

Any event your business puts on is a perfect time to distribute your mugs. Vendors will carry your mug into meetings and your advertising will be seen all day long. Vendors and clients will use your mugs day after day, as they are easy to transport and are functional for the user. Event mugs can be made up quickly for any promotional event you want to have your business logo seen at and handed out.

Businesses can give away their mugs with a specific occasion on the mug along with their advertising, and people will remember the occasion and their advertising. Tradeshows, exhibitions, and corporate events are a great place to hand out your printed mugs and build up the image of your business. People like getting something for free and it leaves a positive impression of your business in their minds. Your clients will enjoy the mugs and future clients will have something in their hands to remember your business.

Coffee mugs sit on the desks of many people and their customers will see your advertising and business logo printed on the mug. You can have your logo with a message, phone number, and picture to enhance your business. Give a couple of short sentences on what you sell or offer to customers and your business is promoted every time someone uses their mug.

Your logo is the most important and it should be promoted with a strategy that makes people ask about your business and where you are located. If your business has special colours that are used then your target audience should see the colours of your business on the mugs. Printed business mugs are inexpensive and a great way to market your business to a lot of people in a short period of time. Your customised mugs can be ordered in a bulk quantity which will reduce the cost even more.

Your mugs are going to be a big part of your advertising line and should be designed in good taste to please your targeted audience. You can get travel mugs so people can use them in their car holders, or you can have mugs of china, glass, plastic or earthenware, for people to have them on their desks or at home. Business printed mugs come in different sizes and styles and you will want to choose the one that best suits your business logo and saying that you want printed on the mug. Having mugs for your business can grow your business every day. It is an effective way to promote your business.

MasterCard Credit Card

The perfect alternative to a checking account

MasterCard Credit Card

MasterCard Credit Card

By John Halasz

When MasterCard was first formed by United California Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, Crocker National Bank and the Bank of California in 1966, it was deemed as a competitor for the VISA credit card of Visa Inc. Then known as 'Master Charge: The Interbank Card', it received a shot in the shoulder when First National City Bank merged its Everything Card with Master Charge. By 1979, it was rechristened as MasterCard. Formed as a co-op of banks, the company underwent a sea of change in the year 2006. The adoption of a new corporate logo and a new tagline, 'The Heart of Commerce', was a proof of the growing dominance of the brand in the market, along with its famous counterpart, VISA. In the same year, the company announced its first ever public offering becoming the second largest and one among the high profile US IPOs.

However, things were not as pleasant as it seemed. At a time when IPOs in the financial sector were registering substantial returns, MasterCard was going through a tough time troubled by dozens of lawsuits making the offering not so priceless. The credit card major had estimated to spend about $650 million of the IPO returns on legal charges. The historical reputation of having always displayed a steady and stable performance notwithstanding, the prospect of having to shoulder the legal charges of the company put off a large number of long-term investors. On the contrary, the increasing number of customers favoring electronic payments over paper money had ensured that the company saw a 13% ($1.7 billion) rise in profits. The company had initially planned to offer about 46% of the shares i.e., 61.5 million shares priced in the $40 to $43 range expecting the value of the company to increase to nearly $5.6 billion. About 13.5 million shares of the offering were donated to the MasterCard Foundation, a charitable foundation. This resulted in company posting a loss for the year 2006.

Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase and HSBC, who acted as underwriters, lowered the offering price to $39 in a move to allow the stock to start well in the market. However, in spite of market speculations, the trading ended at $46, an 18% increase compared to the initial offering price. By the end of the first day, the stock price witnessed a 15% growth reaching a maximum of $85 at one point of time. On the brighter side, the IPO allowed the company to make acquisitions, explore new technology and recruit the best at a time when competition was at its peak in the credit card industry.

Five Money Making Ideas Minus the Huge Investment

Five Money Making Ideas Minus the Huge Investment

By Francis D Goh

There are so many money-making ideas and suggestions out there that it's easy to feel overwhelmed. If you're looking to earn extra money on the side but don't really want to shell out money for capital or be forced to work outside your neighborhood, then a home based business is an option. You can tap into your natural talents and use them for your money-making ventures. If you just happen to be so good in a lot of things, then use those skills to your advantage. That only means you have more income generating possibilities to work with! Below are ten ventures you can consider for starters.

1. If you have the writing skills, become a freelance writer. Freelancing is one of the most popular money-making ideas ever and understandably so. Many publishers prefer to hire freelancers rather than keep people on staff. Many website owners are always looking for people to generate content for them. A number need ghost writers to write on their behalf and this is something you can easily turn into a home based business.

2. If you know how to use a camera and have an eye for detail, submit stock photos for sale. Many small websites that can't afford to hire a professional photographer or model opt instead to purchase stock photos. So if you normally have your camera with you most of the time, start snapping outdoor and city life photos, which are some of the most in-demand themes. If you know any budding models who are willing to pose for free in exchange for exposure and a few great shots to add to their portfolio, collaborate with them to create stock photos depicting leisure or office-themed scenarios. Stock photography is perhaps one of the most fun money-making ideas as it also unleashes your creative side.

3. If you have the height, looks and cheekbones, consider modeling. Sure it's not a home based business but it gives some travel opportunities that you shouldn't miss, plus it usually pays well. You don't have to aim for glossy magazine work right off the bat. It's just not realistic. Start with "bread and butter" work like catalogs and being an extra in photo and commercial shoots. Don't think you're attractive enough? Are your hands flawless? Many print ads use hand models and there are even modeling agencies that specialize in "specific body part" models to cater to ads that highlight a particular body part.

4. Are you good in math? Tutoring is one of the money-making ideas that lets you work from your own home or visit the homes of your clients. Many school children, especially those learning algebra for the first time, struggle with this much dreaded subject. Tutors will always be in demand, especially for households where both parents are working and too busy to teach their children. You can probably offer a trial session first to give them a look as to how you conduct your lessons. Be sure to impress your first set of clients - parents are normally the ones who exchange tips with fellow moms and dads when it comes to their children's education. Word of mouth recommendations can do many wonders for your home based business!

5. Are you good in the kitchen? Bake and sell cakes or pitch your cooking skills. People who love to throw parties but can't afford caterers can certainly use your services. You don't necessarily have to cook in your clients' kitchens. You can just conduct everything as a home based business by preparing the food in your own kitchen, and you can either deliver their orders or they can pick the food up themselves. Just remember to tack on a delivery fee if you're bringing the food to them.

The suggestions above are merely the tip of the iceberg. You might glean other great money-making ideas from people you know or derive inspiration elsewhere. Good luck in your endeavors.

There are many money making ideas out there, you just need to discover what works for you. Francis Goh shares a wealth of experience and knowledge with us on how to achieve financial freedom.

3 Tips To Help Business Owners Live Life and Have Fun

3 Tips To Help Business Owners Live Life and Have Fun

By Adam Bauthues

I am sure you have heard these sayings many times...

"All work and no play."

"Work hard, play hard."

You know these sayings very well, and all of their different variations. Your parents, teachers and business mentors have said them to you multiple times, and you know why? They say them because they are true.

To put it plainly, business owners tend to be type A personalities and you'll often find them hard at work around the clock. Unfortunately, this all work and no play attitude can lead to a whole host of problems. We're talking about burnout, stress, fatigue, mental and physical health issues - not to mention boredom. This kind of work ethic can also end up killing a marriage, or at least create a rift between you and your spouse that will be hard to close.

It's time to add a little fun in your life. Here are three ways to add a little more fun into your life now, as opposed to waiting.

1) Plan Weekly Fun Time

Plan time for fun weekly. Not monthly, not annually - weekly. Do something you enjoy with the people you love once per week. And while you are at it, since you are so good at planning now, you might as well plan time for fun monthly, quarterly and annually. You're an entrepreneur so that you can have freedom and control over your schedule right? Would you choose to work 24/7? Of course not, so plan fun into your life just like you plan work.

2) Zen and the Art of Business

Live/work in the moment. This makes working hard and playing hard easier to do. When you're working, focus on work. Be there, in the moment without thinking about what you could or should be doing. You're doing it. Pay attention to that. When it's time to play, play. Don't think about work or what you could or should be doing. When you are playing, recognize that you are playing. Simple right? Well, it is not as easy as it sounds.

Living in the moment is something that takes practice; however, the rewards are well worth it. Your time will be much more rewarding, productive and enjoyable whether you're working or playing.

3) Reward Yourself When You Deserve It

Give yourself more than just a pat on the back for a job well done. Reward yourself. Do the things you enjoy doing. If you love dancing, go dancing. If you love hiking in the woods, go hiking in the woods. List the things you like/want to do that are fun, and do them. Just like you'd make a task list and check things off as you accomplish them for your business, make a list of the fun things you like and want to do and check them off as you do them. This embraces that type A personality you have and still lets you have fun.

Experts from around the world and the most successful people you've ever met do take time to have fun. Make a schedule for fun. Plan it into your day, your week, your month and your year. You're a business owner and that gives you the freedom to take vacations when you want to, to take a day off when you want to and to have a little bit of fun right smack dab in the middle of the day without risking your job or angering your boss. You work hard, right? Play hard too. Your family, friends and your sanity will thank you for it.

And now I would like to invite you to receive Free Instant Access to my niche marketing and advertising blog, The Project Marketer. It is your complete resource for absolute victory in marketing and advertising online: http://www.ProjectMarketer.com

Using Social Media for Business Networking

Using Social Media for Business Networking

By Nathan B. Richer

Did you know the latest numbers from the analyst group, Forrester, shows for sales lead generation that Facebook has a 1% click-through rate and a 2% conversion rate? Did you also know that Twitter has one-upped Facebook and its click-through rate is between 3-5%? For comparison the average click-through rate for Internet ads is.08%.

If you haven't yet, you need to be using social media for your business networking.

We all know that this is a social media age for small business, but most small businesses either don't know how or are unsure how to go about harnessing this valuable Internet resource.

The good news is, it's not difficult to start. There are numerous free resources online, as well as business networking groups to get you started.

The more engaging you are online with social media the more engaging business networking-wise you will be. It tends to be an art form. But one that doesn't have a huge learning curve. There's enough evidence everywhere on the Internet for you to be able to turn into that social savvy business networking guru for your small business.

Your business is only as well-known online as your social media presence, which in turn creates your business networking presence.

The latest branding strategy for small businesses online is to "get personal". This falls perfectly inline, with using social media for business networking.

Now, many people on the Internet are wary of getting personal online and with good reason. But if you don't do it, your competitors either are, or will start doing it. Getting real shows who you are as a person and creates an immediate relationship with the person visiting your social media profile or business website.

And this is what makes Social Media such an attractive tool for business networking in this new social media world.

As a small business you should ensure that you have not only completed your profile on your Facebook page, Twitter account, and Google+ profile page, but make sure you have a picture of you posted to your profile and not just your logo. People connect with faces. And in addition to talking about business, why don't you let people know what you're passionate about. Do you love kayaking or white river rafting? Insert a blurb in one of your blog posts letting people know about your latest trip. And you do have a blog don't you?

When other business owners see who the real you is, they are more inclined to not only reach out to you but to refer you to others as well. We all know in the end, it's a small world out there, and how many times have you expressed something to a colleague or counterpart to find out later that your message was passed on to your new client. And it all starts with using social media for business networking.

If you would like to learn more about strategic business networking and upcoming networking events in the Ottawa area then visit Stimulus Strategies Networking.
